Introduction

Since being raised in the UK, starting work and gaining independence at the age of 16, I have always jumped at the chance to travel internationally in search of some sun - with the British weather being so unpredictable.  I value my passport as a very important commodity as it gives me the flexibility and the opportunity to experience different cultures. With the ability to reach most European countries within 4 hours – I have found that for me personally, the UK is the ideal place to be situated.

What is the Scheme?

According to the UK Government’s current position on Brexit, all EU, EEA or Swiss citizens presently residing in the UK will need to apply to the ‘EU Settlement Scheme’ to continue living in the country after 30 June 2021. Individuals can also apply when they are not an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, but they must have an eligible family member who does hold a relevant citizenship.

Whilst the majority of team-based sports professionals will be situated in one destination, they will be required to travel domestically and occasionally internationally. However, in certain sports like golf, tennis, athletics and Formula One, extensive international travel throughout the year is required.
